Does it make since for a musician to have an IPhone Application?

I have noticed that some major musicians have begun to create IPhone applications to promote their albums. Most of these applications seem pretty pointless so far. Do you think that this will be a growing avenue for musicians to promote their music?

Yes because a true musician would never leave there music at home

At this point you can not do any advanced composing on an iPhone. The applications are useful for getting a demo or a quick idea, but they're currently not advanced enough to replace an actual studio set up.

Real musicians leave their music at home all the time...haha.

UPDATE:

Hey Chowes, I recently got three new apps that are great for musicians. They are:

- FourTrack: a fully functional 4-track recorder that enables panning, leveling, mixing, bouncing, and file sharing

- Guitar Toolkit - everything any guitarist needs, including an audible finger chart, tuner, metronome, and various tunings. There is more that this app enables you to do, but I'd be here forever.

- ProChrods - great for writing chord progressions on the piano. select a chord and it tells you what chord(s) could and should go next. This app is also completely audible and shows you fingerings

iPhone...do it.
